“Dominic was referred to me as the best in the business for finding risk and compliance staff. My experience corroborates precisely that. Thorough, encyclopedic market knowledge and execution orientated.”
Hugo van Vredenburch, Non Executive Director, TMF Group
“I have worked with Danos Associates for over ten years across roles with Merrill Lynch and Stormharbour Securities. Danos Associates are able to provide and leverage an extremely strong network in financial services, submitting for interview only those candidates who best fit our need and thus saving considerable time. Danos Associates have always been able to be flexible and creative in the solutions they have offered us. Their Consulting business has meant they are able to bring in pre-vetted candidates for all durations of contract or consulting requirement as well as for our permanent vacancies.”
Richard Atkinson, Global General Counsel, Stormharbour Securities LLP
“Due to the recent staff movements, we had to fulfil our Operational Risk position in the New York office. We contacted a few agencies including Danos Associates to assist in recruiting temp to full-time positions. What stood out to me, was the service, the prompt attention and the consistent follow up that we received from Ruaridh Brown-Hovelt (and his team) in Danos Associates especially when Ruaridh is based in London. The geographic and time zone difference was managed very smoothly and did not hinder the delivery of the team at all. The team was dedicated to providing a high degree of professionalism. I would certainly recommend working with Danos Associates.”

We were instructed to find someone who could develop a multi-divisional, scalable compliance function for a company that operated across multiple jurisdictions with varying regulatory environments.
This acquisitive business needed to apply best practice across all jurisdictions to provide a globally scalable structure that could be rolled out rapidly and grow with the business.
The candidate needed to be prepared to relocate and manage extensive travel as part of the role. He or she needed to be able to demonstrate credible compliance experience at an international level with an understanding of business differences in different cultures. The successful candidate needed the leadership and character to instil the importance of compliance in less mature regulatory environments, bringing the team together to create something impactful without being overwhelming.
Danos Associates were recommended to HR Director Nicola Swann by a trusted client. She was encouraged by the mix of smaller, high value businesses and large organisations we work with. She talked us through her experience of working with Danos Associates on this assignment.
Quality from the very beginning
“Within 24 hours I was speaking with the Global Managing Partner, Dominic Danos. He arranged for a partner to act as my single day to day point of contact. I knew there was a team working on the assignment but was impressed that such a senior person was taking the lead and that the Global Managing Partner was so accessible. With other firms you don’t normally get much contact with principals and can often get palmed off with junior staff who may not have been adequately briefed.”
“Danos Associates offered much more than simply sourcing candidates. They helped frame the scope of the search, giving context as to where we could search for our candidate pool and provided a commercial view of the labour market in this field and what we could expect. They helped us to identify what would be attractive to candidates and also tackled head on the difficulties there might be in sourcing the role and how we could best overcome these. Their mix of pragmatism and realism twinned with their enthusiasm for our business and the opportunity was refreshing.
They managed our expectations and even added new dimensions to what we needed. Their expert opinion reminded our executives what the search was about and kept our original objectives firmly at the forefront of the assignment.”
Strength of network
“The shortlist of candidates we received was of a very high standard. Each candidate had been looked at critically. It was clear that Danos Associates had spent time verifying the expertise and background of the shortlisted candidates but they had also taken time to consider their personal circumstances and motivation for the opportunity.
Candidates’ international mobility had already been considered, providing information on their motivation to move and why the jurisdiction was of interest. This ensured that the list we had only included those who were serious contenders.
All the candidates spoke of their positive experience with Danos Associates, highlighting their high-touch and personalised service. This matched our culture well and made Danos Associates feel like part of our own resourcing team.”
“There can often be a bit of a gap between hire and commencement and with some agencies it can feel like they bank their fees and move on, but not with Danos Associates. We received follow up calls and they were in contact with the chosen candidate reaffirming, supporting and checking on their relocation. They created a soft landing rather than a fall from the sky.”
Forging long term relationships
“Throughout the process it really felt like we were working with a business partner and not a supplier. Their candidate care and business approach married nicely with our own and we now have a long term relationship with Danos Associates.
The candidate we selected after a considered process and more input from Danos Associates is doing very well in their role and has become a very trusted and senior person in the business.”
